Thanks Bill,
I just want to clarify a couple points with Smart 911. If a resident creates a safety profile in Smart 911 (which is totally voluntary) they can choose to include information about door access codes, gate codes, key locations etc. This information is ONLY available to the 911 dispatcher if a 911 call is placed by the owner of that profile. The information contained within a safety profile is not searchable by 911 and is only “unlocked” or viewable when a 911 call is placed from the phone(s) associated with the account holder. The information you put into your safety profile is completely voluntary.
Units/agencies that are dispatched to the 911 call would be given this information (QRU, MESI, Fire or Law Enforcement). There is no authority to request the information—you as the account holder are providing responding resources access to your safety profile by volunteering the information upon making a 911 call.
We routinely do outreach and education on Smart911, but I can’t say as to how widely it is known to you neighbors.
